Full Text
Whatever may be the result of the Presidential election, as between Adams and Jackson, the success of either will afford ample cause of rejoicing in the complete defeat of the Congressional caucus system. This will be indeed a triumph of principle in comparison with which the success of Adams or Jackson becomes of minor importance. That Crawford cannot be elected, and that the Caucus system must be completely defeated, if not already, soon will be, certain. "Down with the Caucus" is now shouted by every real republican in the Union. It is on this broad ground of principle that the friends of every candidate, except Crawford can meet with feelings of mutual good will, each alike rejoicing at a result, (whatever it may be and whatever candidate may succeed) which prostrates a system big with momentous and dangerous consequences to our republican institutions.
