Woman Hits Assailant.
An Atlanta woman, apparently weary of being assaulted, turned on her alleged assailant during a chase on Hilliard St., N. E. early Saturday morning and shot him two times in his chest, police said.
When police arrived on the scene of the shooting, a woman they identified as Miss Ruth Seals, 24, of a Reed St., S. W. address, was waiting and turned a .32 caliber pistol over to them.
Patrolmen B. C. Waller and C. E. Weeks said Miss Seals told them that she shot Chester Evans, 34, of a Hilliard Pl., N. E., address, because he had been "beating her up and down Hilliard."
Police said they tried to interview Evans while he underwent treatment at a local emergency clinic, but they said he was under heavy shock and could not reply to their questions.
Miss Seals was booked on suspicion of shooting another and suspicion of carrying a pistol without a license and held in City Jail pending further investigation.
Evans was listed by Grady Hospital officials as being in "poor condition" later Saturday morning.
Homicide Detective J. C. Adams and W. K. Perry were further investigating details in the case Saturday.
