Full Text

Barbary is still in a very ill state, differences and contentions are daily spreading amongst them: The other day the blacks dethron'd Mully De Lariba, who was then the reigning king, and put him in irons at Mequinez, and proclaim'd Mully Mutsaddi, another brother, king; so they have now 4 kings, viz. Mully Abdallah, Mully Ally, Mully De Lariba, and Mully Mutsaddi; the last may reign while he has money to feed the blacks. The way they have got into, of dethroning and proclaiming kings, may hold out for some time. For the late Mully Ismael, their father, has abundantly spread the seeds of desolation and ruin, by leaving 300 and odd sons, who all claim a right to the empire of Fez and Morocco; and an army of blacks rules all.
