Although there has been considerable talk about the Republican convention, it turns out that there will be very few contests for delegates from this county. A slate of delegates in practically all the districts has been agreed upon and will be elected this afternoon.
It is popularly supposed that a vast majority of the delegates who will go to Dover from this county are in favor of the nomination of Senator Pennewill for governor and Mr. Heald for Congressman. The opinion is that the candidate for governor must come from Sussex county. We have not noticed in any of the lower county papers a disposition to throw the nomination for governor from Sussex county to some other county.
It seems to be accepted here that the opposition to the organization is ineffective and the recantations of the chief organ of the opposition have had a discouraging effect on the opposition.
However, as was shown by our correspondent the other day, there are possibilities, but not probabilities of developments in Sussex and the interest in the approaching convention will be great until its work has actually been accomplished. Nothing is ever done in Delaware politics until it is actually done.
