OLE ELLIOTT BOOSTS
FOR GREAT DIVIDE

W. S. Elliott arrived home during the week from Goldfield and Tonopah and states that Tonopah is again one of the best camps in the west, which is due to the tremendous discoveries of rich ore recently made in the Tonopah Divide, located about six and one half miles south of town, says the Ely Record. The mine is opening up on such a big scale that many of the best mining men in the country are of the opinion that another camp similar to that of Tonopah is being brought in. The main shaft of the Tonopah Divide is now down 600 feet, which with development along the lead at that depth has demonstrated $7,500,000 worth of ore. The shaft has been continued on down for another hundred feet and a drift is now being run from it to cut the ledge. The ore occurs along a big fault plane, and in some places the ore is 30 feet in width. The best ore averages about $500 per ton, with a general average across the face of the lead of $75. At the present time the company is treating about 200 tons of ore per day in the MacNamara mill at Tonopah. Shafts are also being sunk in the district by the Gold Zone, Brougher Divide, East Divide, Divide Extension and Western Union companies which hope to encounter values after reaching the ore zone, which does not crop out on the surface. The new plant is giving employment to a considerable number of men, which will be increased as development work progresses.
