Carlton Monaghan, Fort Mill house painter, who lives on lower Tom Hall street, is being held by the county authorities in connection with the death of John Crosby, negro, at the Hinson filling station, between Fort Mill and Rock Hill, Monday night. Tuesday afternoon a coroner's jury investigating the death of Crosby returned a verdict that the man met his death from a pistol wound inflicted by C. Spencer Morton of Rock Hill, with Warren D. Tate of Rock Hill and his wife, Mrs. Marie Etheredge of Winnsboro, sister of Mrs. Tate, and Carlton Monaghan accessories to the shooting.
