SAN BENITO, Sept. 23—Results of the referendum taken by the Kiwanis club among its membership on war and peace have been tallied by Quinton E. Louthan and show strong desire for peace.
Nine questions to be answered "yes," "no" or undecided were distributed.
The Kiwanians overwhelmingly believe in repeal of the arms embargo act. On that question the vote was 29 in favor of repeal of the law, seven opposed and four undecided.
The second question was "Are you in favor of modification of the present arms embargo act permitting us to sell to anyone on a strict cash and carry basis?" The answer was 29 yeses, nine noes and two undecided.
Favor toward the French and British is shown in the results on the third question. "Should we sell materials and supplies to Allies and aid to the totalitarian forces? Yes—23 No—15 Undecided—2"
"Should we, under any circumstances, send troops to Europe?" was the next question. Eight answered "yes," twenty-seven answered "no" and five were undecided.
"Would you volunteer for service in another overseas war?" The answers were nine "yes," 26 "no" and five undecided.
"Would you volunteer for service in event of actual or threatened invasion of our country?" The answers were 39 "yes," no noes and one undecided.
"Should the United States, after notifying its citizens of danger abroad, assume any further responsibility in their behalf if they do not choose to return immediately? The answers were six "yes," 33 "no" and one undecided.
"Up to the present time has the President, and our government as a whole, assumed a neutral position in fact?" The answers were 21 "yes," 15 "no" and four undecided.
"Did our government do right in holding up the Bremen?" There were 27 "yes," 10 "no" and three undecided.
