Full Text

All the talk about Democratic division in West Virginia, when reduced to its lowest terms—as they say in arithmetic—seems to be based on the fact that the recent State Convention declined to choose for temporary chairman a writer on the Wheeling Register, a leading Democratic paper in the State. More fuss has been made about this matter than was made about the rejection of Powell and Clayton by the Republican National Convention. There was not even a feeling against the Register, as we understand the case, but a majority of the delegates were simply unforgiving toward one of its editors because he was accused of coquetting with Republicans at some former time in the political history of the State.—Cincinnati Inquirer.
