By Capt. John Stone, who arrived at York last Tuesday Night in 11 Days from Cape Breton, we are informed, That our Fleet has entirely demolished the Island Battery, and are playing upon the Town Night and Day, and did not doubt but they should be in possession of it in a few Days.--He also informs that it was expected a 74 Gun ship of the Enemy's had made her Escape out of the Harbour and that there was a great Misunderstanding between the French Admiral and the Governor of Louisbourg occasioned by his detaining the French ships.
By Capt. Stone we have the melancholy News of the Death of Colonel Meserve, and Son, of this Town, who died at Gabarus Bay.
