Extract of a letter from a gentleman in Alexandria, to his friend in this town, dated June 9.
"This evening arrived here in the stage from New-York, a Mr. Davis, passenger in the ship James, Captain Howard, arrived at New-York.
Mr. Davis left the Royal Exchange in London exactly 40 days ago, and brings with him most extraordinary news indeed, to this amount— "that there was a Revolutionary Army of 60,000 men in London".—Strange to tell, the Dukes of Clarence and Bedford at the head— That at the head of this force, the latter addressed the King coming from the house of Lords, informing him that the people no longer wished his services in England, nor did they wish to hurt him, but advised his retiring immediately to Hanover, whither. it is also said, he had previously sent an immense sum of money. The King of Prussia had certainly withdrawn, and it was believed and reported that Spain had acknowledged the Republic of France."
