Full Text

In the last St. Tammany paper of this town, some of his disciples observe, that the Federal representatives to the 12th congress have been 'elected by such small majorities as would make feeling men hang themselves.' What sort of conduct would they recommend to Jeremiah B. Howell, (democrat) who was last week elected Senator in the congress of the United States, by a majority of ONE, and that by his own vote? Should Mr. Howell's lean and self majority operate so powerfully upon his feelings as to induce him to follow the advice of his Tammany brethren, we would beg leave, to suggest a trifling variation as to the manner of his exit; and instead of hanging, recommend as it would be more in his taste, drowning himself.
