Yesterday a little before one o'clock, a Chapter of the Order of the Garter was held at St. James's, at which Lord North was elected, and invested with the ensigns of the Order; the Dukes of Gloucester, Grafton, Rutland and Newcastle, and the Earls of Albemarle, Gower and Hartford, assisting at the ceremony. Yesterday Lord North gave a splendid
Entertainment to the Knights of the Garter, and a great deal of the Nobility, &c. at his house in Downing-street, on occasion of his Lordship's being created a Knight of that most renowned Order.

It is worthy of remark, that his Royal Highness the Duke of Cumberland was the only Knight of the Garter that was not summoned to attend the Chapter yesterday at St. James's, to invest Lord North with the ensigns thereof.
