Grand Reception.
New York, 14. A Herald cable special dated London, May 13, says on Thursday a grand reception was held at the Prussian embassy at London. The entire diplomatic corps was present. On the presentation of Wickham Hoffman, the American Charge d'Affaires, to the Empress, her majesty expressed gratification in being able for the first time to personally express thanks to a member of the legation, which, during the Franco-German struggle, under sad and distressing circumstances, was so good and so painstaking. Her majesty also requested Hoffman to convey her thanks to Minister Washburne and spoke kindly of Bancroft Davis, the American minister to Berlin.
